Reading Resources: Online books & stories
The more your child reads, the more skilled and confident he or she will become! Whether its comic books, picture books, chapter books, magazines, or nonfiction facts or stats, instilling a love of reading is a lifelong gift you can give your child. Reading for themselves of course is very important, but "reading" the pictures of a book above their level or hearing more sophisticated language read to them while interacting with images, ideas, and text will also develop their skills: think books-on-"tape," read aloud websites, or bedtime stories.
Never has it been easier to offer your child a wide variety of captivating and engaging things to read. Check out these wonderful ebooks with your child. Read them at home...or on the go! Be sure to scroll down: National Geographic Young Explorer is a fantastic nonfiction online magazine that even has a read-aloud option! You will also want to take a look at the Wonderopolis collection as well--having your child hear you read engaging content or allowing them to explore the information and videos on their own, will foster their thinking and reasoning skills, an emphasis in the Common Core.
